Thanks for sharing these results. I'm surprised V0 didn't follow its own advice on the value proposition in the main heading.
I can't fully put my finger on it but I'm really impressed by design option #3 from Magic Patterns. I like the variance. It's something different enough to really test.
Thanks for the note! You have a keen eye. Yeah, their results have a different vibe. V0's was sophisticated yet rigid. Magic Patterns' was simple yet divergent.
Thanks for the tests. I see this useful to create design variations, early prototypes and spark conversations. But most readers and for sure non-designers will be oblivious to the hundreds of hours spent by Kayak team testing their designs, discussing and iterating to give shape to their final designs. They'll probably think this kind of output is all that they need.
The imminent consequence now is that poorly-informed executives (i.e. most) will eliminate or decimate their design teams. I hope I'm wrong, but as the AI design tools get better, it looks like paradoxically we are going to move into an era of really bad UX design...
Great writeup! I didn’t know you can ask these tools to generate multiple options at once as the interface seemed linear. Is it easy to compare the results without moving to a canvas-based tool?
Oh, I wish I could talked about this in the newsletter, but I reached the article length limit...It was easy to compare—there were toggles for you to easily switch from one option to another.
The AI-powered design evolution approach is fascinating! Having worked with e-commerce platforms struggling with conversion optimization, I've found that most teams get stuck in "design by committee" or endless A/B testing cycles. This step-by-step AI analysis workflow offers a practical middle ground - getting diverse design perspectives quickly without the overhead of multiple designers or lengthy revision cycles.
The key insight here is separating the critique phase from the generation phase. In my experience with digital transformation projects, teams often rush to solutions before fully understanding problems. Using AI to first analyze existing interfaces creates that crucial reflection moment that's often missing in fast-paced environments.
For those interested in blending human creativity with AI assistance, I explored how this kind of workflow can transform broader digital operations in my recent post about building AI knowledge systems (https://thoughts.jock.pl/p/building-ai-knowledge-system-automation-guide-2025). What other creative workflows are you experimenting with?

Thank you for calling it out. Appreciate it. I can see that coming too and I've tried to be conscientious.
